Community Management
WindSong members (homeowners and tenants) meet on the first Friday of each month to discuss issues, receive proposals and make decisions. We use a consensus model for decision-making, which encourages everyone to participate and strengthens community relationships.
The consensus process ensures that all aspects of each issue are considered so that the community’s best interests are served. On an ongoing basis many members meet in small groups to explore issues that will eventually come to a monthly meeting for decision. Some decisions are delegated to teams.
WindSong accomplishes most of its community administration, cleaning and maintenance through a participatory Community Contribution System (CCS). Members participate on one or more areas of the CCS which includes administration, building maintenance, cleaning & tidying, community relations and outdoor teams. Members are encouraged to choose the jobs they're most comfortable with and to contribute at least 3 hours each month, thereby allowing us to keep our strata fees low while building a strong sense of shared responsibility.
WindSong’s governance and management requires reliable and frequent communications. We use a community e-mail group for ongoing discussions and announcements. We also have a bi-monthly community newsletter and, of course, since we live so close together, there are lots of opportunities for face-to-face communications!
